Inspiring Presenters

"I left with loads of new ideas for my classroom and a belly full of laughs."
Chris Henley

Gary on Chris:

Chris taught for over thirty five years in three different Secondary Schools. Although a specialist languages teacher, he has taught a range of other subjects too.

Chris is an inspirational teacher, the best I've seen.  He's a passionate believer in the young people of today.  His view of young people is like mine, they can be challenging because they are young and push the boundaries, but no different from generation after generation.

Chris moved on from leading an outstanding Languages department to become deputy head, in charge of developing teaching and learning.  He played a major role in his school being judged as 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

A golfer, keen cricketer and qualified umpire.

Decisive Element has been inspiring people since 2007 gaining a national reputation for interactive workshops packed with stuff that really works and plenty of chuckles.

Between us, we’ve got a bit of experience and have learned an awful lot from some fantastic teachers and leaders, as well as inventing a few things ourselves. We've been inspired and have inspired throughout our careers.
We hope you enjoy our ideas and can use a few of them to help you become the best teacher you can be…inspiring!

Gary's 33 year teaching career spanned  6 schools countrywide with students' age ranges from 10-19. This has included being head or principal at 3 schools in Leicestershire including co-leading the Pupil Referral Unit out of 'Special Measures' and leading his school to 'Outstanding'.

Gary shares my passion for teaching and although originally a Design Technologist, he has taught most subjects.  He was always a teaching head, teaching English to GCSE level.
Gary's ethos is that all young people can do well and with the right leadership, ethos and support can shine.

Beyond education, Gary climbs mountains, skis, plays football, is a fiction author and is a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers.
